March was terrific for fresh snow, and one might have thought that was the end of it …. but not so! Wet weather hit us hard the first two weekends of April, and nighttime temperatures helped boost our snowpack. While it’s hard to predict how much or for how long, preliminary forecasts call for a roller coaster of weather that will bring more snow and extend the ski season just a bit longer. So it looks to be a perfect time to visit Truckee/Tahoe, with mild daytime temperatures (for the most part) that will please even the non-skiers, who can find plenty to do at lake elevations. Our mountains have never been more beautiful!

The Craw Thaw Music Festival
TCome settle into historic downtown Truckee, and enjoy diverse American roots-inspired music, Cajun cuisine and family fun. This inaugural event benefits Moody’s Jazz Camp, a non-profit supporting local youth and music education. Gather outside Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats and tap your toes to honky-tonk country, clap along with Southern rhythm and blues, and snap your fingers to the talents of jazz ensembles. Festival goers will enjoy a feast of Creole and Cajun-style street fare, barrel-aged Redemption Whiskey cocktails and craft beer.
