Squaw Valley

Squaw Valley is the most famous ski resort in the Lake Tahoe area. The mountain is beautifully complex, with deep crevasses, and lush forests that expand over miles and miles of terrain. As the host for the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley boasts noble tops and elite terrain where even the most advanced skiers can be challenged. The sheer size of Squaw Valley allows for a wide range of slopes for all skill levels, from precipitous cliffs to gentle bunny slopes. Skiers have a constant view of Lake Tahoe and the High Sierras as they weave in and out of cattrails and wooded powder runs. The village at the base of the mountain is a quaint, homey resort with a mix of modern buildings and old school mountain architecture. In the cold months, Squaw Valley becomes a winter wonderland full of both outdoor adventures and snug havens. One can enjoy an exciting day of skiing the massive mountain, or any of the several other surrounding ski resorts, and then come home to a cozy village full of mellow coffee shops, alluring restaurants, and quaint houses. In the warm months, wildflowers on the mountain side provide a colorful backdrop to hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and strolling through the downtown area. Highcamp, located at the top of Squaw Valley mountain, is an amazing place to eat,  swim, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the entire Tahoe National Forest.  People who own houses at Squaw Valley are people who love the outdoor lifestyle and the legacy that comes from living at the base of such a legendary mountain.
